golden eyes pierce the air, the sunlight barely brushes her pale face. this place is different than her old world, but it will do. the most intriguing thing now is the girl – the woman, maybe. tall, dark hair, skin unlike those that live in the Fire Nation. she smiles, coming out of the shadows to reveal herself.
“ Hello, “ she purrs, relieved that her time alone has come to an end, “ You must be… the Avatar . “
As she walked down the long hallway she held the basket of laundry making sure not to drop especially these clothes. If she did, she would have to wash them all over again. This was the room she dreaded almost as much as her Father’s. She would never get used to working here, she felt more like a dog than a human. Quick to obey every command and never speak back, that was what she had to do. It hadn’t always been like this, at one point she was living in Republic City, but that felt like it had been a long time ago. She fell in debt to a man with a vast fortune, or more she was ‘sold’ to the man.
Her boss had bet his best worker and until his debt was payed she had to remain here in this huge estate as a personal maid to the family. If she hadn’t needed the money so bad she would have never agreed, but being without a job she simply couldn’t do. She admitted it had some good qualities, what money she was left with after he subtracted her debt for the month was a good amount. She sent most of it back to her younger sister in Republic City, but she still was saving a decent amount. Most of it she spent on amazon packages of food that she could actually read, what all these imported packages said she would never know.
Finally she reached the room of the young heiress and knocked twice before opening, she wasn’t even sure if the girl even was there. Much to her unfortunate luck she was, and the young woman had to put on her best half smile before making quick work of placing the girl’s clothes in their correct places. What needed to be hung was, and everything else was put away as perfectly as she liked, Naga had memorized most of the girl’s liking. It was easier that way for sure. When she was finally free she went to leave, for once she might just have the afternoon to herself.

the other girl’s presence was hard to miss. Azula could hear her coming down the hall minutes before she even approached her bedroom door. she groans, running her fingers through her hair and stretching her legs out over the fine silk sheets before getting up and reaching for her mirror that sat on her side table. she looked an absolute mess, but it was only the maid. Azula was still unaware of how the woman came into her father’s hands, but she did good work and always knew how Azula liked her linens folded. it didn’t stop her from bothering the poor girl either – she could barely remember her name, and she imagines the girl won’t be working here for much longer, they liked to rotate maids in her family, so she doesn’t particularly care if the maid is upset or not. ( Ty Lee would be angry if she knew this, but she’s never around when– Nara? Nava? Nadia? – is around. )
the familiar sound of the door pushing open fills her ears, and she straightens up, setting the mirror to the side and watching as the young woman walks in, a basket in her hand and a slight smile on her face. perhaps today she’ll take it easy on the other girl, allow her to work in peace… or… not?
“ Oh Naga, “ (that was her name ) she says, slipping out of bed, snatching her robe before the other can grab it, slipping it on with a smirk, “ I forgot to add some things to my laundry this week. there’s a pile around her somewhere that needs cleaning… “ she notes, glancing over to where the mentioned pile lies. it was a fairly large mound of clothes, but it wasn’t her fault she liked to change clothes mid day– it was almost required of her. from her father’s business meetings to his parties, she had to be ready for anything. how does an heiress like her get a good reputation? dress like a goddess, so she does. it’s just more work for the maid who can’t just throw it all in the wash. she frowns, glancing over to her closet where the girl is now standing.
she quirks a brow. “ Set out my red sundress, “ she laughs, nearly all her clothes are red– the family’s chosen color of pride, “ and don’t don’t wrinkle it with your grubby hands like you did last time, “ she adds, moving towards her bathroom to freshen up before she goes out for the day. she quickly forgets the girl is even present as soon as she turns her face away– she has more important things to focus on.
“ how rude. “ glares at the stranger. ” it’s alright, “ she says, glancing at her fingernails with a bored express- ion. “ Ty Lee will find a way to get it back for me. “
i never finished this but it was for tylithe about our headcanons for if ty lee were to assassinate azula in fear that she would continue to hurt other people. i wrote it at like 2 am a few weeks ago and completely… forgot where i was going with it. i might come back an finish it but i have no montivation! swag. anyways….. hope you like it bab?
Called to visit the princess, Mai was shown
down a hallway in the Royal Palace to a room
upon her right, entering into the room that
had comfortable looking furniture and a table
with cups filled to the brim with tea. There
she was sitting, Azula, the princess of the
great nation herself, sitting there waiting
for the young woman’s arrival.
“
I assume you will be expecting something
of me? Might as well skip the hellos and
get straight to the point. “

Legs are crossed at the knee, one over the other, delicate and strong, regal and relaxed– almost. Her body is poised, hands settled in her lap care- fully. All but her eyes are calm. The other enters the room, and golden irises are instantly aflame, gazing in the diplomat’s direction. As soon as she hears the voice, her mouth tilts, red lips curling at the edges in a wolfish grin.
" Oh ? No hellos ? “ she lets out a huff, a noise that sounds like the echo of laugh. ( though the true form is seldom heard aloud ) ” Why don’t you sit down first, Mai. “ she says, glancing down at the tea, body complete- ly still save for her chest that gently rises and falls with her steady breathing. ”I’ve had your favorite tea made for this little visit. I’m sure you’d like a cup after your long journey here. “
❝ I don’t know how to break it to you, but your skepticism is really being put to was- te here. I’m not up to anything, Azula. ❞

” I’m not stupid, “ she hisses, ” I know who you are – who you’re with. “ she curls her fists, taking a step towards him, "What are you doing here, then, if you’re not up to anything, Sokka ? ”
Mai …is being distant. I think I did something wrong but I don’t know. You’re not my first source but… you were her friend.

“ Well first figure out what you did wrong, because we both know it was you … You probably Second, apologize. She likes sincerity. Everyone does. Third, she’ll either forgive you, break up with you for good, or punch you in the face. If you’re unsure of whether or not you’ll get out of it unscathed, buy her something pointy and that will practically ensure her loyalty! I think … "
